How when did you get started in the bike world:
At 45 years of age, I went through a life-changing experience that helped me to choose a hobby. As a child, my parents couldn’t keep me off my bike. I rode an old classic Schwinn Stingray. It was my everything bike from Commuter, BMX, to Trails. So, I bought a Mongoose (don’t judge) without guidance, biffed a few times and said to myself I could like this. I was invited to ride with a group of seasoned mountain bikers, that day they saved me from a tragic fall, I “Taco’d” both my wheels. Later that day I purchased my first real mountain bike; 21 years later I’m still hooked.
I’m an active Bike Patrol and Trail Steward for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation for the last 15 years.
Favorite Bike:
• All of them plus my dream bike, don’t know what that is yet.
Current Bikes:
• Pivot Trail 429 – MTB 29’er Carbon Full Suspension
• Vassago Bandersnatch – MTB 29’er Steel Frame Hardtail
• Ellsworth Evolve – MTB 29’er Aluminum Full Suspension
• Felt Slip Stream – Road Carbon
What’s your favorite part of Mountain Biking?
Discovering natural landscapes that I wouldn’t be able to explore on foot. I’m a climber, not so much a downhiller. My moto for chunky techy places, “I walk to ride another day”.
Favorite place to ride:
So many Arizona Trails: Phoenix Preserves, Scottsdale Preserves, McDowell Mountain Preserve, Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff.
Outside of Arizona: Utah, Colorado, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Position: Owner

How/when did you get started in the bike world:
I started riding bikes at age 3 and have been passionate about it ever since. As a kid, I loved BMX and rode bikes like the PK Ripper, Redline, Hutch, and mongoose. In my early 20s, I transitioned to mountain biking, starting with a Trek hardtail. I also enjoyed motocross for three decades. In 2020, after our local bike shop closed, I decided to become a bike shop owner to continue supporting the cycling community.
Favorite Bike:
• My next one! 😊
Current Bikes:
• Trance X Advanced PRO 29 SE
• Kona Process 134 CR/DL 29
• Specialized Stumpjumper
• Aventon Pace 500
What’s your favorite part of Biking?
Not crashing! I love anything fast or technical.
Favorite place to ride:
South Mountain, Sonoran Mountain Preserve, and Browns Ranch.
Anything else you want to add:
With 35 years of experience in Information Technology, including 20 years in executive roles, I retired in January 2020, just before the pandemic. Shortly after, our local bike shop closed, inspiring my partners and me to open Sunset Cyclery, ensuring Anthem had a bike shop. I've called Anthem home for 18 years, have been happily married for 29 years, and am the proud parent of three children. Besides biking, I enjoy traveling to beach destinations, spending quality time with my family, and assisting startup companies.
Position: Co-owner

How/when did you get started in the bike world:
My first memory of riding was a tricycle up our small hill next to our house when I was 3 or 4 years old. I tried to ride as high as I could up the hill and, on the way down, I crashed making a turn into our driveway! Still have the scar to prove it! I also remember having a yellow Schwinn bike in elementary school with a black banana seat and ape hangers and jumping makeshift ramps in the middle of the street. Fastforward to today and I'm riding different styles of bikes from mountain bikes to beach cruisers. My Giant Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1 full-suspension eMountain Bike is my new favorite. My old bones are enjoying the extra push of an ebike!
Favorite Bike:
• Giant Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1
Current Bikes:
• Giant Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1
• Sunday High C 29"
• Trek Classic Cruiser
• GT Backwoods 26" with original RockShox

Enjoying the scenery of the outdoors, meeting new fellow bikers, and getting a good workout.
Favorite place to ride:

Anything else you want to add:
I'm still working full-time in Information Technology and I'm counting down the days to early retirement. In the meantime, I have many hobbies including standup paddleboarding, woodworking, photography, birding, flying drones, and making stuff! My current projects include building a racing drone from scratch, building my own cornhole boards, and creating wood art pieces.
